A great year for the Jarrold Staff Charity Challenge

Jarrold Staff Charity Challenge are delighted to make donations to the following groups.  They have been nominated to receive these grants by members of staff and the monies have been raised through a variety of staff events.
 
£1,000 to 2nd Dereham (Toftwood) Scout Group.
2nd Dereham (Toftwood) Scout Group have 50 young members between 6 and 14 years old and meet regularly at the Scout Hut in Toftwood which is now 30 years old. Recently their boiler, radiators and heating pipes have failed and £2,000 is required to replace them.
 
£500  to The Norfolk Reading Project
This project aims to raise the literary standards in Norfolk with a team of volunteers who support teachers with reading in schools.
 
£1,000 to The Eastern Rivers Community Gym in Loddon
The gym opened in 2014 and seeks to be a community asset for people in the local area looking to improve their health, fitness and general wellbeing in a social rather than competitive environment. The gym needed funds to replace a broken cross trainer.
 
Between 2006 and 2011 Jarrold Retail Division raised £65,000 for 3 local charities - Big C, EACH and Nelson's Journey. Then in 2011, the Jarrold Staff Charity Challenge, administered by the John Jarrold Trust, was set up and since then over £50,000 has been raised for 51 local charities and causes, all nominated by our staff members. The latest to receive cheques were the 2nd Dereham (Toftwood) Scout Group £1,000, The Norfolk Reading Project £500, and Eastern Rivers Community Gym £1,000.
 
Jarrold Retail in addition have given £6,923 to The Big C, being  the proceeds from the Carrier Bag charge, from its introduction in Autumn 2015 to the end of 2016.
