The John Jarrold Trust was set up in 1965 by the then Chairman John Jarrold. It was established with the object of promoting, supporting and advancing charitable purposes of all kinds. It is a company limited by guarantee and not having a share capital. The Trust's income is derived from dividends from its shareholding in Jarrold & Sons Ltd.
The Trust supports a wide range of organisations and is the main route by which charitable donations are made on behalf of Jarrolds. The Trust supports causes in the following categories: the arts, welfare and community, education, medical and health, churches and historic buildings, the environment and developing countries. Apart from developing countries most of the support relates to causes in Norwich and Norfolk. The Trust is not able to support individual education programmes.
Since its establishment, the Trust has distributed over £3million mostly within Norwich and Norfolk.
