Jarrold Training, a market leader in the field of IT and Management Training in East Anglia has announced the acquisition of Software International Training on December 22nd 2006 for an undisclosed sum. The new combined business will operate as Jarrold Training.
The two companies have over 40 years experience between them of designing and delivering high quality Microsoft Office and Technical training to many large corporates and small organisations throughout the region.
Jarrold first offered training as a support service to its Apple Macintosh Dealership in the 1980s with one part-time trainer. Since then the business has transformed; moving in 2000 into a new purpose built training centre and developing the offering into a wide range of MS Office and Technical Training, Management Development, Soft Skills and Health & Safety Training.
Software International Training was founded by Sue Thornton and Tony Vare over 25 years ago. The business started as a software programming house but gradually migrated to Microsoft Office Training in response to enormous local client demand. At that time there was no IT training company in the county; most clients were travelling to London for their IT Training.
Susie Jarrold, managing director of Jarrold Training said: “We are delighted that the Software International team has joined us. The business is very well regarded in the market place.” Sue Thornton added “We have been friendly rivals for a number of years in the local market, often competing for clients and sometimes both working with the same clients; it makes a lot of sense for the two companies to work together.”
Susie continued “We estimate that between us we have trained over 60,000 delegates. That is quite a major impact on a local community.
We believe that by combining our resources and the expertise of the two management teams we will be better equipped to provide an excellent level of training and service and also importantly to adapt to the changing training needs of our customers.
The market has changed significantly in recent years. Training has gained a much higher profile in the region due to several national and local government initiatives. Clients are more sophisticated now; there is a higher general level of software skills and we are seeing much greater demand in our advanced level courses and also in training needs analysis work prior to projects commencing. Businesses are keen to invest in training provided they see a clear link with business performance improvement. “
The new business which is Microsoft accredited will offer a broad range of training services to cover IT training, management development, soft skills and health and safety training and operate from the Jarrold Training centre based in the historic building of St James’ Mill in Norwich. While the outside of the building may date from 1839 the facilities inside the centre are fantastic. There are five purpose-built IT training rooms with the very latest equipment and air-conditioning plus 2 further general training rooms for Management courses.
The combined business is currently working with around 700 companies in Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex including high profile names such as Norwich Union, Virgin Money, KLM UK, Norfolk County Council and also a large number of SME organisations.
