The Annual Jarrold Retail Staff Dinner Dance was held on Saturday 14th January. Peter Mitchell Managing Director of Jarrold Retail commented "The Staff Dinner Dance is a great opportunity for all the staff to enjoy a fun evening at NCFC Top of the Terrace Restaurant and this year to celebrate our success in raising £20,000 for the Big C Appeal". This will go towards the Family Cancer Information and Support Centre which is under construction at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and is due to open in the Spring of 2006.
When fundraising started in October 2004 the original target was £10,000, but this has been more than doubled by, not only the generosity of customers and suppliers and a substantial donation from the John Jarrold Trust, but by the enormous efforts made by the Jarrold Retail Staff.
Some of the fundraising events have included staff raffles for prizes, football and concert tickets; a sponsored hair dye; quiz and chips nights; a race night and collections at the Theatre Royal. The company is joint sponsor of this year's panto "Peter Pan" and theatregoers have been extremely generous and helped to raise a fantastic amount for this deserving local cancer charity.
Peter Mitchell presented a cheque to Alison Lanchester, the Chief Executive of The Big C who accepted the cheque on behalf of the appeal and in thanking all the staff involved said that this was the best corporate funding raising effort the Big C Appeal had been involved with.
