Group Managing Director
Peter Mitchell joined Jarrold in May 2003 becoming Managing Director of the Retail Division in February 2004. He was appointed a Director of Jarrold & Sons Ltd in February 2005 and Group Managing Director in October 2011. In addition to continuing to lead the development of the retail operations, Peter is now responsible for the oversight and development of Jarrold Training.
Peter chaired the team that set up Norwich city centre’s Business Improvement District (BID) which he has chaired since its inception. Norwich BID is an award-winning, private-public partnership with a multi-million pound budget to enhance the success of city centre businesses.
Peter is an engineering graduate of Cambridge University and started his career with strategy consultants Booz.Allen & Hamilton. He then moved into retailing, first with Comet and then Storehouse (Mothercare and BHS). Peter was Finance & Development Director of Storehouse International, and then Finance Director of BHS. At Waterstone's Booksellers, Peter served as Business Development Director, and subsequently as Director of Retail in BSkyB's interactive division.
Peter is a Governor of Gresham’s School in North Norfolk, where he lives with his wife, who is a barrister and tribunal judge, and their children.
